I'm excited to share the news that this morning brought an unexpected and immensely gratifying surprise – the 2nd Place Silver Star Award in the "Nature: Landscapes Category“ at this year's ND Awards competition ( ND Magazine & ND Awards ). Winning this accolade fills me with a deep sense of honor and accomplishment.
The recognition is particularly meaningful as it stems from a small selection of images curated from my extensive 10-year journey through the mountains of Switzerland in my latest project titled "Light, Shadows, and Glaciers." This long-term endeavor has been a journey of discovery, allowing me to delve into the captivating interplay of light, shadow, and textures within the glacial landscapes of the Swiss mountains.
To highlight the intricate details of the glaciers, I chose to photograph them in black and white. This approach strips away the distraction of color, placing the textures, contrasts, and delicate interplay of light and shadow at the forefront. It’s incredible how much more you notice—the cracks, ridges, and nuances of the ice—when color is removed, and the raw essence of the scene is revealed.
Receiving this Award is not just a personal triumph but also a testament to the passion and dedication poured into the art of minimalistic black-and-white photography. It's a humbling experience to be acknowledged among such talented photographers.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the ND Awards for the recognition and to everyone who has supported and appreciated my artistic journey.
Congratulations to all the photographers who were awarded and their amazing work!
